Miniatures Wargaming

It can be said without question that if TempleCon truly has a focus, that focus would be on miniatures gaming in all of its many forms.

And within that focus, there currently is a game system which has experienced such success at TempleCon, that in four years we have become one of the most important sites for the organized play of it in the world.  That game is WARMACHINE, and it's feral twin brother HORDES, from Privateer Press.

For years the TempleCon staff has supported WARMACHINE with an unmatched fervor, and since day one we have dedicated ourselves to becoming the place to go annually if you "Play Like You Have a Pair."  With Privateer Press in attendance, and an exclusive HARDCORE tournament that we have been privileged to host for the past three years, our player turnout in 2009 exceeded that of other major national conventions.  We can proudly say that WARMACHINE and HORDES players from around the world now make it a priority to get themselves to Providence, Rhode Island once a year to compete with the absolute best.  If you play the game and you haven't attended, make plans now to get in on the action in 2011.  It's not just hype when we say that you really don't want to miss this.

So we've hopefully established that if you want to smash some steel and pound some bone, TempleCon is, without question, the place to do that.  What we haven't mentioned is that you'll be doing it on beautifully crafted terrain, made by the TempleCon staff throughout the year.  Every tournament table and terrain piece is made to our obsessively high standards, because we figure that if you're playing one of the best games in the world in a gorgeous venue, why should the terrain you're playing on be anything less?

Even if you are a casual WARMACHINE player, TempleCon has plenty for you to do.  We have a gallery of dozens of amazing theme tables available for open scenario play, such as the vicious Ordic Beach Assault table, and the stunning cliffs of Highgate.  Our exclusive Eternal War format is also a great option for casual players, as you can get a game on demand day or night.

Just because WARMACHINE is such a force at TempleCon, doesn't mean that we ignore everyone else.  If Warhammer 40k or Warhammer Fantasy is your thing, you'll find some serious events at TempleCon to test you, as we demonstrated in 2008 and 2009.  Our massive 40k tournament brings in players from New England and beyond.  We've also gotten a lot of feedback to improve and expand both 40k and Fantasy for 2011, and we're taking all of it to mind.

And last but not least, our write-up of the big miniatures games at TempleCon brings us to Flames of War, the hugely popular WWII miniatures game from Battlefront.  Since 2007 we've actively supported Flames of War at the convention, and last year we featured a Mid-War Flames of War Regional Qualifier, plus additional Flames of War action to give Flames players a high-quality experience that is simply unavailable elsewhere in New England.  We are proud to announce that Flames of War at TempleCon 2011 will be far beyond what as been previously offered at TempleCon, in part due to a growing following the game has at The Temple Games game store and lounge in Pawtucket, RI.

With all of this and more, it's easy to understand why TempleCon has come to be such an unparalled miniatures wargaming experience.
